All of our patients are treated as we treat our own pets; with compassion and gentle hands. Our clients are treated as friends! We listen to your concerns and work with you to achieve the best results for your pets. Our veterinarians and the staff are dedicated to providing the best care utilizing advances in technology to provide the patient and client a happy, loving, and long term relationship.

Staff

The most important asset to our hospital is the dedication, expertise, and training that our staff has accomplished. We value the role that our healthcare team contributes to the well being of your pet.

Heather Brooks, D.V.M.
Dr. Brooks grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. She completed her undergraduate studies right here in Salisbury at Salisbury University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1993. She then attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Dr. Brooks has roots in equine medicine, but has been dedicated to small animal medicine for the past 15 years. She has owned Wicomico Veterinary Hospital since 2004 and moved us into our new building in 2007. She takes pride in providing our local community with high quality veterinary care paired with a focus on each patient as an individual. Dr. Brooks has taken advanced courses in dentistry and laser surgery techniques. In her spare time, she and Jeremy enjoy going to the beach, paddling, and hiking with their chocolate Labrador Retriever, Fineas, and Landseer Newfoundland mix, Jona. She spends her time at home reading, cooking, and catering to her Scottish Wildcat look-alike, Keagan.

Callie Spahr
Callie joined our team in July of 2021. She grew up in Lititz, Pennsylvania and moved to Florida in 2018, following her husband who is in the Navy. 2021 brought them back to the north and to the eastern shore. She attended YTI Career Institute in York, Pa with the hope of becoming a veterinary technician and later passed the VTNE to become a certified Vet Tech. If your pet is scheduled for an anesthetic procedure, Callie will likely be spending a lot of time with them! Monitoring anesthesia is one of her favorite aspects of her job. In her free time, Callie enjoys horseback riding, spending time with her menagerie of animals, and exploring the eastern shore. She likes to live life on the wild side and has 4 dogs named Astra, Zeva, Myla, and Nettle as well as 3 cats named Fawkes, Fitz, and Finnegan. Callie also has a gargoyle gecko named Quentin and some backyard chickens!

Brittany Sydlik
Brittany joined our team as a veterinary assistant in August 2020. She is originally from Baltimore County, MD and ventured to Salisbury for college. Brittany graduated from Salisbury University in 2021 with a bachelors degree in Biology and a minor in chemistry. Brittany has loved helping animals since childhood and has been working in the field as an assistant since age 16. Her long term goals include attending veterinary school. We are very appreciative of her positive attitude and willingness to jump in and help with anything! In her free time, Brittany enjoys fishing, surfing, and playing with her pup, Marlin!
