Our veterinarians and the staff are dedicated to providing the best care utilizing advances in technology to provide the patient and client a happy, loving, and long term relationship.

Staff

The most important asset to our hospital is the dedication, expertise, and training that our staff has accomplished. We value the role that our healthcare team contributes to the well being of your pet.

Heather Brooks, D.V.M.
Dr. Brooks grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. She completed her undergraduate studies right here in Salisbury at Salisbury University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1993. She then attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Dr. Brooks has roots in equine medicine, but has been dedicated to small animal medicine for the past 15 years. She has owned Wicomico Veterinary Hospital since 2004 and moved us into our new building in 2007. She takes pride in providing our local community with high quality veterinary care paired with a focus on each patient as an individual. Dr. Brooks has taken advanced courses in dentistry and laser surgery techniques. In her spare time, she and Jeremy enjoy going to the beach, paddling, and hiking with their chocolate Labrador Retriever, Fineas, and Landseer Newfoundland mix, Jona. She spends her time at home reading, cooking, and catering to her Scottish Wildcat look-alike, Keagan.

Kristina Elkins
Kris started with Wicomico Veterinary Hospital in February 2009 as a receptionist with no experience in the veterinary field. Since then, she has worked her way through many roles, and has become extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of veterinary care. While her duties now include administrative support, her favorite part of her job is still at the front desk, greeting our two and four-legged friends! Kris is actively involved with training all staff members to uphold the highest standards of customer service and all things involved with veterinary reception. Kris is a compassionate problem-solver, with over a decade of personal investment in our clients and patients. We truly cannot imagine Wicomico Veterinary Hospital without her! Kris is an avid "foodieā€¯ and a fantastic cook. In her spare time she can most often be found in her garden or in her kitchen making something delicious.

Lindsey Glanz
Lindsey officially joined our team in January 2020 after shadowing/volunteering with us for over two years prior to that! Lindsey is a Registered Vascular Technologist in the human medical field, but her true passion has always been with animal health. Lindsey utilized her vast knowledge of biology and anatomy to quickly master the role of veterinary assistant, and has plans to go back to school to work towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. At home, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her three cats, Foster, Shooter, and Torti, her rescue husky-mix, Luna, her rambunctious golden retriever, Dalkey, and her tiny hamster, Birdie! Lindsey is an active member of our Salisbury community and can be found attending many local events!

Brittany Sydlik
Brittany is the newest member of our staff and joined our team as a veterinary assistant in August 2020. She hails from Harford County, MD on the western shore and she is currently in her Junior year at Salisbury University, pursuing a degree in biology. Brittany has loved helping animals since childhood and has been working in the field as an assistant since age 16. Her long term goals include attending veterinary school after graduation. We are very appreciative of her positive attitude and willingness to jump in and help with anything! In her free time, Brittany enjoys eating Taco Bell, studying,
and going to the beach.

Hope Clarke
Hope joined Wicomico Vet as an assistant in June 2018 while still in her senior year of high school. In 2020 she ventured into canine training and boarding. In May 2021 she rejoined Wicomico Vet as a veterinary assistant. Hope was born and raised in Parsonsburg, MD surrounded by her dogs, cats, and horses. She showed horses through her teenage years. Hope lives with her parents and her fur babies, Trax and Ruger

Katie Wheeler
Katie joined our team the summer of 2021. She hails from Hedgesville, West Virginia and is now living in Salisbury. Katie has been in the veterinary field for 8 years, with her experience being primarily in emergency. She takes special interest in emergency and critical care and is especially invested in her geriatric patients. She is passionate about and devoted to her job. In her life outside of work Katie enjoys running marathons and ultramarathons, watching Netflix series, and snuggling with her two cats, Christmas and Gunther.
